Garage Door Questions Lakewood Homeowners Ask Us Most

After You Call

When you call (720) 538-5268, you're talking to someone who can look at your address and give you a straight answer - not a script. We ask what the door is doing (won't open, won't close, off its track, making noise), what kind of opener you have if you know it, and roughly how old the house is. That last part matters more here than you'd think: a lot of Lakewood homes were built between 1938 and 2005, with most of that stock going up through the 1960s and 70s, and the hardware on a door from a 1970s build is often different from what's on a house finished in the 1990s.

From there we schedule a visit and bring parts based on what you've told us. If it turns out to be something else once we're looking at the actual spring, track, or panel, we tell you before we touch anything - no work starts without you knowing the cost.

We're based at 441 Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226, so most calls in the immediate area don't involve a long drive across town before anyone shows up.

Who Does the Work

A technician comes to your house, looks at the door in person, and does the repair or replacement himself - there's no call center dispatching a stranger from a parts warehouse. The work is diagnosis first: springs, cables, rollers, track alignment, and opener logic boards all fail differently, and a door that "just stopped working" usually has one specific cause, not a vague one.

We work on torsion and extension springs, openers, tracks, rollers, cables, and panels. We don't pretend to know every brand's internal wiring from memory, so on less common openers we sometimes need to look up a wiring diagram on site - that's normal and it doesn't slow the job down much.

One limitation worth saying plainly: if your door is original to a house built in the earliest part of that 1938-2005 range, some torsion hardware sizes aren't something we keep on the truck, and sourcing a match can add a day. We'll tell you that up front rather than quote a same-day fix we can't deliver.

The Areas We Cover

We work in Lakewood and the towns and named areas around it. Close in, that's Belmar Park (1 mile ENE), Kendrick Lake (1 mile SE), Foothills (2 miles WNW), Union Square (2 miles NW), Green Mountain (2 miles SW), Creighton (2 miles NE), Carmody (2 miles SSE), Daniels (2 miles NNW), Eiber (2 miles NNE), and Applewood (3 miles N).

Farther out we cover West Pleasant View, Applewood, and Wheat Ridge (4-5 miles), Morrison and Sheridan (6 miles), Idledale (7 miles), Englewood, Columbine, Genesee, Indian Hills, and Ken Caryl (8 miles), and continue out through Berkley, Glendale, Cherry Hills Village, Kittredge, Twin Lakes, North Washington (9-10 miles), Sherrelwood and Evergreen (11-12 miles), Welby, Federal Heights, and Westminster (13 miles), Aspen Park, Derby, and Cherry Creek (14-15 miles), out to Superior, Louviers, Northglenn, Roxborough Park, and Meridian (16-18 miles).

If you're not sure your address falls in range, call and ask - it's a quick answer.

The Work We Take On

Lakewood's climate band is cold and severe, which is hard on garage doors in specific ways: seals crack, torsion springs lose tension faster in cold swings, and steel tracks contract enough in winter to throw a door out of alignment that was fine in August. Most of the calls we get track back to one of those causes rather than anything exotic.

We repair and replace torsion and extension springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, and panels, and we work on openers - belt, chain, and screw drive - including sensor and logic issues, not just the motor. We also handle full door replacements when a repair isn't worth it anymore, which is common on doors original to houses from the older end of the 1938-2005 build range.

What we don't do: custom architectural doors that need a specialty fabricator, and gate automation that isn't a garage door opener. If you call about one of those, we'll say so rather than take the job and figure it out later.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can someone get to my house in Lakewood?

It depends on the day and where you are in the service area - closer-in spots like Belmar Park or Union Square are a shorter drive than areas out past Westminster or Northglenn. Call (720) 538-5268 and we'll give you a real window instead of a guess, based on where the truck already is that day.

Do you work on openers or just springs and doors?

Both. We work on belt, chain, and screw-drive openers - sensors, logic boards, remotes - along with springs, cables, tracks, rollers, and panels. If the opener runs but the door doesn't move right, or the door moves fine but the opener won't respond, either one is a normal call for us.

My house is older - will parts even be available?

Most of the time, yes. Housing in this area was built mainly from the late 1930s through 2005, with a lot of it going up in the 1960s and 70s, and standard torsion hardware from that stretch is still common. The oldest original doors can occasionally need a sourced part, which we'll flag before starting.

Is it ever better to replace the door than fix it?

Sometimes. If the spring, track, and panels are all failing at once, or the door is original to an older build and parts are getting hard to match, replacement usually costs less over time than repeated repair visits. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line your door is on.

Do you come out to areas like Morrison or Evergreen, not just Lakewood proper?

Yes - we cover a wide radius, including Morrison (6 miles), Idledale (7 miles), Evergreen (12 miles), and dozens of other named areas and towns out to about 18 miles from our shop at 441 Wadsworth Blvd. If your town isn't obviously close, call and ask rather than assume.
